A concert of “Words” in Salida

Salida Artworks presents a unique show of Words, when seventeen Salida area authors share their own, original works orally at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center, at 220 W. Sacket Ave., on November 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Works will be shared in a “Day at the Park” theme with contrasting intermission shows of break-dancing by Nate Calderone and guitar music by Scott Adams. Described as a showcase of “talent of those who put pen to paper”, featured “wordsmiths” include: Cotopaxi author, Nancy Oswald; Crestone Actress, Stacia Burton; Buena Vista’s Marge Dorfmeister and Maria Weber; Poncha Spring’s winner of the 2008 CSU-Pueblo Women’s Poetry Contest, Barbara Ford; Salida Mountain Mail News Editor, Paul Goetz; Salida Aspen Concert’s Jean Hanfelt; Salida actress, Sadie LaVercombe; Salida Poet, Brian Rill; and Salida’s Grover Ellwood, John Skinner and Laura Donavan, reading for her husband Bill Donavan. The event will also feature the River City Nomads poetry ensemble with Crestone’s Peter Anderson; Twin Lake’s Lynda La Rocca; and Salida’s Craig Nelson, Lawton Eddy, and Laurie James. Following the performance, there will be a “meet the authors” dessert reception, where books by the authors can be purchased and personally autographed.
