Last minute ideas for Father's Day
Need some list minute (gift) ideas to celebrate your Makua Kane? Dads are pretty simple people to please but sometimes a kid just wants to recognize the man that has done so much for them. If you come from a single-father home money can sometimes be a bit tight so available are some no cost to some cost options to show your dad how much you love him. Check out the list below.
- Take him out to dinner - Restaurant.com is giving a discount off their PRINTABLE dining coupons for Father's Day. Check out the website here for details.
- Wash his car - Here in Hawai'i you can be guaranteed that dad owns some sort of vehicle(s) since they're parked everywhere; front yards or in front of the stop sign. Whether if it's an enviornmentally friendly Toyota Prius or his man-friendly Dodge Ram, he'll appreciate the gesture. Don't forget to pay attention to detail. Dad's love their cars. Bonus - if you've got the money and driver's license, fill it up with gas or take it in for an oil change.
- Go fishing - Some single fathers may enjoy their hobbies on their own during their special day like golfing, surfing, cooking or fishing. Then there are the fathers who enjoy spending Father's Day with their children so get off your duff and spend some quality time with your dad. If you don't know how to do the things he enjoys then ask him to teach you, dads thoroughly enjoy teaching their children about the things they enjoy.
- Write a note - If your dad (God forbid) has to work on his special day then write him a note in his lunch bag or stick it in his pants pockets, somewhere he can find it, and tell him how much you appreciate all that you do for him. It will mean so much to him and will give him more motivation to do all the work that he does for his children. If you bought him a Dad's Day gift then leave it out on the table for him to open when he comes home, it will be a much appreciated homecoming.
- Cook for him - What's the best way to a man's heart? It's usually his stomach so make him breakfast in bed or his favorite meal like Poke or Chicken Adobo. Check the web for some great local recipes that your dad would love.
- Lu'au - Sure this could fall under the category of "Cook for him" but everybody loves a lu'au and just about every man in Hawai'i loves to grill and sing to Karaoke. Gather up the neighbors, turn on the tunes, have them bring some pupus, start up the grill, and enjoy some time with other dads in the nieghborhood.
Most of all just tell your dad that you love him and thank him for all of his hard work. That's the best Father's Day gift.
