Baby boomers make up more than 77 billion people -28% of the population. Boomers are concentrated in major metroplitan areas like New York/New Jersey, other East Coast states, New England areas and the Pacific Northwest as well as the Upper Michigan areas. If you were born between the years-the "boom" years 1946-1964, you are a baby boomer. Nearly 3 in 10 Americans are. Both the Senior Digest and AARP report that boomers who turn 60-65 can expect to live to their 80's.
All these factors make boomers likely to experience transitions in their careers.
There are programs and EXPOs designed specifically for baby boomers. BOOMERANG, an event held this May in Maryland,for boomers featured government agencies that help boomers, career coaches available on a walk-in basis and exhibitors with products catering to the boomers. Check your local state government for these events.
It's important to know that career changes often happen -so, you're not alone AND you're not "too old"! Midlife or "boomers" have much valuable experience are marketable!
