Career Planning can be a time to tap into your creativity and dream as well as analyze yourself.  Self evaluation is a never-ending process.  Start by looking at the ideal self-identify what your hopes dreams may be.  Often, we borrow others' dreams for us even though these ideas may not fit.

Next, reflect honestly on both your strengths and your weaknesses.  Think about situtions where you handled everything well as well as those you didn't.  Face it-nobody handles everything perfectly.  The important thing is was it a learning experience?

Your next step is to think of your "ideal job."  Write down 10-15 jobs you could see yourself doing.  There are many resources for occupations/job positions.   There's a creative Jobs section in Job Search for Dummies.  ONET is a great online research tool. The more descriptive of where you work, types of colleagues, salary and other concerns.

Look for themes-are all your ideal positions involve a certain locale-like beaches, or having a plush office/work environment.

Especially in these tough times with an uncertain economy, it's important to find fun in this career planning process.
