"Belonging" is a scientific and spiritual journey into humanity's footprint on the Earth. At a time when humanity is searching for responses to the global climate crisis while pondering its ecological track record, the film examines the various effects on humans, animals and the environment of excessive energy use. Voices from science and spirit join and make a case for reduction and conservation as the only viable paths towards long-term sustainability.

THE FILMMAKERS
Journalists Gerard Ungerman and Audrey Brohy founded Free-Will Productions in New York in 1995. Ever since, their documentaries have focused on human-rights and the environment. With the help of many talents and volunteers met along the way (including actors John Hurt, Ed Asner and Dustin Hoffman), Free-Will has been able to rely entirely on sales and donations in order to remain independent from commercial and political interest groups. Determination and skills learnt on the way have allowed them to give high production value to low-budget projects and to bring international visibility to controversial stories that corporate news and entertainment would not readily touch.
THE FESTIVAL
Artivist is the first film festival entirely dedicated to International Human Rights, Children's Advocacy, Environmental Preservation, and Animal Advocacy. Each year, Artivist awards a feature and a short in each of these four categories. Endorsed by Claes Nobel of the Nobel Peace Prize family, Amnesty International, and the United Nations Dep. of Public Information, the Artivist Festival has already featured over 400 films from around the world at its six inter-national locations: Hollywood, London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Lisbon. Many films that have premiered at Artivist have gone on to great acclaim including Academy Award winner "Born Into Brothels", Academy Award Nominees "Super-Size Me" and "God Sleeps in Rwanda".
In Hollywood, the festival takes place at the beautiful and historical Egyptian Theater.
