Charter Schools in San Francisco

Charter schools are tuition-free public schools. These schools provide education options for the communities they serve and Californians are lucky to have access to over 700 charter schools across the state.  Charter schools have more flexibility in scheduling, curriculum, budget and parent volunteer requirements than traditional schools. They may vary in teaching philosophy (e.g. montessori, waldorf, traditional), setting (multi-age, online, independent study) and focus (e.g. arts, technology, medical, math).   

Charter schools must participate in state testing and state reviews and employ credentialed teachers. Many schools have waiting lists and admit students by random lottery drawings.

The list below contains a geographical list of the 12 charter schools in San Francisco.
