A Bacchanal celebration that is a last hooray to lust, decadence and the sentiment of Laissez rouler les bons temps - Cajun for ‘Let the Good Times Roll’ – before the beginning of Lent sends all good Roman Catholics to social detention where they, on pain of reprimands from Sister-Mary-Ruler-In-Hand-And-Not-Afraid-To-Use-It, fast from meat, fun and anything else mingling in the social circle of the seven deadly sins.
To prepare for the forty days and forty nights of abstaining, all non-angels in the City of Angels can satisfy last-minute indulgences and joie de vivre whims at the 2009 Brazilian Carnaval that will be rule the night of Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 8pm at the Hollywood Palladium. Previously held at the Queen Mary, this event now parties in the heart of Hollywood. With samba rhythms filling the air, the firecrackers of the night is the Tropidanza Troupe of rhythm and shakers serves up hula-hips and scintillating performances as Brazilian sambistas strut their stuff in feathery and sequined tops and bottoms that make Carmen Miranda pine for life again.
