If you can’t get enough of Nintendo’s flagship Hylian hero, you’ll be happy to know Link is back in his most frantic adventure yet.  Developed by 22 year old wonder Joakim Sandberg, Legend of Princess plays like a 16-bit era 2-D side-scroller on methamphetamines.  It's absolute visual sensory overload at times with enemies assaulting Link from every possible direction as the game moves at a furious pace.  Sandberg, who worked on the frenzied Nintendo DS shooter Contra IV, certainly has the pedigree for hyper-intensity when it comes to 2-D action and he's putting it to good use in Legend of Princess.

As with most indie game recommendations, Legend of Princess is unlicensed and absolutely free to download and play.  So go on, give it a shot by downloading it directly here.  It’s only a tiny 10mb download and features a single level (for the time being).

Enamored fans should also consider visiting Joakim’s developer homepage at Konjak.org for even more gaming goodness.  Send him a letter of appreciation while you’re there.  It’ll encourage him to create even more 2-D brilliance in the future.
