Thanksgiving recipes: Apple pie cocktails

With the approach of Thanksgiving signaling the onset of colder weather, many drinkers look to festive cocktails that embody the spirit of the season and provide warmth on a cold night.  Apple pie is a traditional dessert during the holidays and one indicative of many Thanksgiving feasts, but the liquid version is much quicker to make and often just as tasty.

The below apple pie cocktail recipes utilize some favorite flavors of Thanksgiving as families everywhere gear up for the holidays with a drink in hand.

Apple Pie Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce white rum
  • 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1 teaspoon Applejack brandy
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon grenadine

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

Apple Cinnamon Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces apple schnapps
  • 1/2 ounce cinnamon schnapps
  • 1 pinch cinnamon

Pour apple and cinnamon schnapps over ice in an old fashioned glass.  Sprinkle cinnamon on top, and garnish with an apple slice.

Apple Pie Martini

  • 1.5 ounces vanilla liqueur (Navan is a solid choice)
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
