Short Stack: Archie, Hulk, Supergirl

I am trying new things this week, as you all saw with me moving New Releases to Monday. The Short Stack will consist of the titles I read the previous week with a quick review. They will be reviewed in the order I read them, which is usually least anticipated to most anticipated. Let’s get this party started.

Archie #602: Part three of the six-part “Archie Marries Veronica” storyline. It takes a special person to write for Archie. Veronica’s dad has enough money to buy Harvard, but no one knew that she was having twins? Did they not see a doctor in the entire time she was pregnant? Also, look at the left bottom panel on page 10. Is Archie vomiting in to Jughead’s mouth? However, the story does end with a twist that everyone should have seen coming.

Power Girl #6: We get it: Power Girl is hot. Does this mean we have to address this every issue? I also like how someone can accidentally kill a police officer and not have to deal with any sort of repercussions. Cause you see, it was an accident, which means they didn’t mean to do it. So it’s okay.

The Incredible Hulk #603: Main story: Banner is training his son, Skaar, to kill him, or rather the Hulk. Wolverine and HIS son get involved in this training. Good times. Banner carries around very convenient items to get out of jams like he’s the Adam West Batman. The main downside to this issue was the fact that there were two different artists. I can understand doing that with flashback sequences or different points of view, but that wasn’t the case here. Back up story: This All-New Savage She-Hulk is growing on me. I would still rather see Jennifer Walters, but this feature has been entertaining so far.

Supergirl #46: The last part of “The Hunt for Reactron” storyline. When Reactron was introduced during the “why am I still reading this” era of Supergirl, I didn’t really care much for him. Sterling Gates has turned Reactron into a formidable opponent for the Girl of Steel, in fact my favorite of her villains. The fight scene was awesome. As with Hulk, there were two artists for this, but not as noticeable as with Hulk. Supergirl’s friend turned in to the Phoenix…excuse me, Flamebird. Completely different. Also, the truth of Lana’s condition is closer to being revealed.

Quote of the week: Archie: “I’m not loading diapers! I’m loading diapers into a mini-van! Big Difference!” –from Archie #602.
