The Big 12 was well represented in the international game this summer. Craig Brackins of Iowa State and James Anderson of Oklahoma State donned the USA uniform in the University Games while Tyshawn Taylor of Kansas was part of the USA Under 19 team.
Both teams medaled with the Under 19 team winning the Gold while the USA took home the bronze in the World University Games. The win by the Under 19 team ended an 18 year drought dating back to 1991.
Taylor scored a team high 18 points in the championship game. His overall play was superb as he also dished out six assists and had five steals in the teams win over Greece. For his performance Taylor was selected to the All tournament team. He finished as the team leading scorer (10.8), led the squad in assists and tied for a team high 14 steals.
Iowa State’s Craig Brackins scored five points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the Bronze medal game. For the tournament he averaged 6.6 points and 6. rebounds  per game. Fellow Cyclone Lucca Staiger, playing for Germany, averaged 13.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. However, the two teammates never played against each other in the tourney.
Oklahoma State’s James Anderson scored five points in the Bronze medal game as well. He shot a sizzling 52.6% from the field and averaged 7.1 points for the tournament.
All four players will be counted on by their teams this coming year for major contributions. Looks like they have prepared themselves well.

Tysahwn Taylor of Kansas
