Read more about Savage and his lies:

Who was it who said, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics?"

Our favorite Right-wing radio blowhard knows the latter all too well. He's made a career out of cherry picking and slanting stats to support his, um, facts.

And he did it again during the first hour of his program tonight. Savage loves to throw out poll results to show that President Obama's approval ratings are dropping, whether they are or not. Remember, telling the truth is not a requirement for entry into the Savage Nation.

Savage mentioned a Rasmussen Report poll which purportedly shows Obama's rantings tanking, "In the negatives," Savage blithely said.

And, as usual, he was lying.

What the Rasmussen Report "Daily Tracking Poll" shows is that among the 500 "likely voters" surveyed, 33 percent said they "strongly approved" of Obama's performance so far, while 34 percent of them "strongly disapproved." Rasmussen has devised this thing he calls the "Presidential Approval Index," which subtracts the two "strongly" numbers. The difference is the index. In this case, it's -1.

So, let's recap: 165 people who may or may not vote said they "strongly approve" of Obama's performance, while 170 said they "strongly disapproved" of his performance. A difference of five people.

Just to add context, major national survey organizations poll more than 1,000 people who are demographically weighted. Rasmussen says he does the same thing, plus he only polls those who say they are likely to vote. Who's going to admit they're not going to exercise their franchise?

But all that is somewhat beside the point, because, as usual, there is more to this than Savage tells us. See, he's also a master at cherry picking information.

Further down in the Rasmussen recap, we find out that:

Overall, 54% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance so far. Forty-five percent (45%) disapprove.

So 54 percent to Savage means the president's job approval rating is tanking.

Just to contrast, eight different polls taken since at least the beginning of June show Obama's job approval rating at no lower than 56 percent. And that includes a poll done by Fox, which pegged the approval rating at 60 percent. (You can see all these results here.)

Once again, Michael Savage demonstrates that he is the World's Laziest Ph.D.

Keep the faith.
