World Party performed at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California on October 2, 2009.

This British pop and alternative rock band played a wonderful set of their fan’s favorite tunes, starting with “Put the Message in the Box” at 10:12pm.

World Party’s guitarist puts out sweet notes with amazing control and amusing facial expressions.  He pulled a memorable performance of “Love Street” from his guitar, impressing the entire crowd with his stage antics while Karl performed on the keys.  Karl then sang and played an impassioned yet gentle “She’s the One.”

World Party draws on obvious influences from Bob Dylan and the Beatles, with thought provoking lyrics and performances that touch the soul.

The band played “Sweet Soul Dream” and “Ship of Fools,” and they graced the audience with several crazy cool slide guitar solo during “Is It Too Late?” The guitar’s sustain pealed long and clear while the audience sang with the lyrics, and made “Hoo, hoo, hoo” sounds with Karl.

When they come back for the encore, they played two slow songs, including “Sunshine” from their 1993 album Bang! and “Strange Groove” from the 1997 album "Egyptology.
