The first step to changing your circumstances is taking responsibility for your part in creating them. When positive things happen in our lives, we take full responsibility for it. When seemingly negative things happen, we blame it on others. The reality is that our past actions created our current reality and every event carries the gift of opportunity.
When we ask God or the universe for something and set out to create our realities, the possibilities are endless. We try to envision how everything will occur but there is no way the human mind can grasp all the combinations that can bring about the final result. There is a cycle of transformation that results in the death of one thing and the birth of another. To have a house, a tree was chopped down. To eat, a plant was plucked up. Both the tree and your dinner still exist but they were transformed in order to create something different. Some would argue that the destruction of the plant is horrible but it transforms into energy for food and to sustain life which is still beautiful.
Many things that we find horrible, are fuel for transformation. It may be that you get fired from a job in order to make room for the new one you have always dreamed about. Maybe your current husband was not the one for you and his cheating is going to lead to something even better. Maybe your yoga injury will teach you about humility and compassion.
By acknowledging your part in creating all events in your life, your eyes open to the abundance and sweet variety that is your birthright. You take responsibility for your spiritual advancement and life becomes your Guru. By closing yourself off to seemingly negative events that you created, you will continue to repeat them. You will first get the message in a whisper, then a shout, a pebble, a stone and a brick and things won’t stop until you get the point or a whole mountain lands on top of you. It is easier to listen to the whisper.
