What is Spiritual Mind Treatment?

Recently I made a “Vow to go deeper,” to expand my relationship with God. In “What is Prayer?” I explored prayer as being an essential key to deepen our relationship with Spirit. I also looked at different types of prayer such as repetitive and authentic prayer. Here, I explore Spiritual Mind Treatment, a form of affirmative prayer.

Ernest Holmes is the founder the Science of Mind also known as Religious Science. It is referred to as “science” because you experiment by living universal spiritual principles, including the Law of Attraction, Law of Gratitude, Law of Circulation, Law of Cause and Effect, and others, then observe what manifests in your life.

At the foundation of Science of Mind is a form of authentic prayer known as Spiritual Mind Treatment. This is a scientific prayer in which the individual affirms the truth of who they are which is abundance, health, happiness, wholeness. The prayer is scientific because like any science you experiment. You experiment by praying, then watching what materializes in your life.

There are five steps in Spiritual Mind Treatment. Before you pray, however, you should come from a place of rest, relaxation or meditation. You also need to establish a specific purpose for your prayer.

Step 1- Recognition - God is all there is. The purpose of this step is to recognize that God is all there is. It is to acknowledge that there is only the God essence -the God energy - that comprises everything. It is to declare, know, and feel that there is no place that God is not. This is the most critical stage of Spiritual Mind Treatment. It is in this stage that you want to initiate a heart-opening to the divine. For those who are sensitive, or clairsentient, you may feel warmth or a quickening at your heart.

Step 2 – Unification I am one with God. By acknowledging that there is nothing except God, you recognize that you are one with God. Using all of your senses, emotions and intuition you feel and know there is no separation between yourself and God. This is unity, and you know you are a divine expression of Spirit.

Step 3 – Realization Affirm your truth. Knowing that God is all there is and you are one with spirit –you have available all treasures of the universe. In this step you affirm your truth about who you are and claim the purpose of your prayer. With all of your imagination, all your senses, emotions, feel your truth believing it has already occurred. Remember the great Wayshower, Jesus said, “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Step 4 – Gratitude Thank you. Knowing the Universe is shaking things up, responding to your prayer, express deep gratitude for the forthcoming miracles.

Step 5 – Release Let it go. Release the prayer to a power greater than anything knowing your words will be answered.

In “What is Spiritual Mind Treatment? Part II,” I share a Spiritual Mind Treatment for spiritual enrichment which supports my recent “Vow to go deeper.”

I hope you enjoyed learning about affirmative prayer.

Namaste.
