According to the American Kennel Club (which only tracks purebred dogs) the Labrador Retriever is the most popular dog breed in America.
But guess what? The lovable Lab is not the most popular breed taken to work. What is?
Pet Sitters International, the organization that started "Take Your Dog to Work Day" in 1999, conducted an online poll asking people about the type of dog(s) they take to work. The top result? The mixed breed dog. (Yay for mutts!)
Here is the full list of Top 10 dog breeds most often taken to work:
1. Mixed breed/mutt
2. Labrador retriever
3. Chihuahua
4. Golden retriever
5. Dachshund
6. Yorkshire terrier
7. Shih-tzu
8. Boxer
9. German shepherd
10. Beagle
