It's abominable. A man and woman operated an unlicensed pet store in North Philadelphia selling pit bull mixes who were kept in "excrement-covered cages in a back room," reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. The dogs appeared to have been bred at the store and were sick. "They were just covered in feces and urine. It was a mess," George Bengal of the Pennsylvania SPCA told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

One of the dogs purchased for $400 by an undercover cop had its ears cropped, which were infected because it was conducted "apparently by someone not authorized to perform such a procedure," reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The couple was arrested for illegally disfiguring the dog.
