Most merciful God,

we pray for all men and women who are soldiers, and are afraid today; we pray for the soldiers who no longer have anything to fear because they are home, with you. Please show them your face. Grant them your peace.

Give those who still live and face danger the comfort and protection of your presence. Guard their minds and hearts from the damage war's horror can produce. Give them the gift of discernment so they will know how best to respond in difficult situations.

Help us, please, to reach that place where war is no longer an option, so none of your children will ever again face such danger.

This we ask in the name of the Prince of Peace.

AMEN.
