Returning readers know that I have extolled the virtues of Valve's upcoming zombie FPS Left4Dead in the past. Some of you have even gotten your hands on it through a pre-orderers only demo, and have written me back telling me how dead on I was about it (and I expect more of you to chastise me for that 'dead on' pun.) Well, earlier today Valve released a public demo for the game, so now it's everyone's turn to dive in, grab their shotgun, and do the hot-lead back stroke through the hordes of undead.
Writing on L4D.com, Valve says:
Left 4 Dead is finally here!
Well, almost, anyway. The full game won't be available for another week (November 18 on Steam and in retail stores across America). But you can get a taste of the blood-splattering, zombie-killing fun right now! We've been playing all morning. And we're so excited we can't even type! We're just hammering on the keyboard like gorillas here. Don't believe us? Sbfdlj;asfdkh asdfhadsfaj hsdfkjhasf! Woo!
While you're there, be sure to check out L4D's intro movie and a designer diary explaining the use of visual filters and graphical techniques used to give L4D that familiar cinematic look.
Plus, I'd like to get together a bunch of my readers to play through the demo and give impressions on the game for the first ever in a series I call "Reader Generated Content." Be sure to send me an e-mail (listed in my bio to the right), or send me a message on Xbox Live at username WreckTheLaw if you want to participate!
