Photo Quantya. High Performance Electric Motocross Bike

Thousands of fans were completely oblivious to the history that was about to be made on behalf of greener, more eco-friendly motocross racing.

In a surprise showing during the 2009 Supercross finals in Las Vegas, NV, history was made when two manufacturers of electric motorcycles, Quantya and Zero, brought a fleet of electric dirt bikes for head to head 6 lap race.

Finishing a respectful 5th place after a well fought comback on one of the Quantyas was Mike Metzger, who hails from Southern California. But it was Brian Roth and David Lodermeier, both riding for Quantya, who finished first and second.

The event was a preview of what may become of "motorsports" the way we know it.

There's a lot of serious movement towards electric vehicles, and from my experience with the crazy-fast accelleration of electric motors, it's going to take things to a whole new level.
