The article Farrah Fawcett's Sitcom Resume examined some of the early roles of Farrah Fawcett's career, specifically in situation comedies between 1969 and 1973. After 1973 Farrah was getting larger roles in movies (both theatrical and television) and TV series, including Charlie's Angels, Logan's Run, and more, including her acclaimed appearance in The Burning Bed.
However, in Hollywood actresses have a short shelf life, and as she aged, Farrah Fawcett found herself turning back to television. While many of her jobs were in dramas and TV movies, she did return to sitcoms twice, in 1991 and 2001.
In 1991 Farrah starred with her long-time partner Ryan O'Neal in Good Sports. A workplace comedy that premiered on January 10, 1991, Ms. Fawcett played Gayle Roberts, a former Miss America who was teamed with ex-football player "Downtown" Bobby Tannen (O'Neal). Stereotypically, Gayle Roberts was the level-headed one of the pair, with Bobby Tannen the egotist, always worried about his image and appearance. And of course, there was strong sexual tension between the two, despite their professed dislike of each other. Good Sports was not a hit in the ratings, and only 15 episodes were produced, with the last airing on July 13, 1991.
In 2001 Farrah made four appearances as Judge Claire Simmons in Spin City. Her first appearance was in "The Arrival" (airdate 9/18/01), and her last was in "Chinatown" (airdate 11/27/01). Judge Simmons was introduced as a love interest for Mayor Randall Winston (Barry Bostwick), but there were complications, as the Judge was not yet divorced. In Farrah's final appearance, Mayor Winston proposed to Judge Simmons, but she turned him down.
Farrah Fawcett had few other acting roles after Spin City, and none were situation comedies (her last role was in the movie The Cookout from 2004). For more information on Farrah Fawcett's life and death, please click here.
