While the days in New York are getting shorter, as well as colder, one of the most important accessories to remember is your sunglasses. Most people think of sunglasses as purely a summer accessory, but they should actually be worn year round. Even if it is cold out, there are still ultra violet rays that can damage your eyes as well as the skin around your eyes, leading to ugly crow’s feet. When it gets snowy out the reflection of the sun off of the snow can be quite bright. In addition, sunglasses can also help to block the wind from drying out your eyes as you walk between buildings. But most importantly, sunglasses are just one more way to accessorize!
Sunglasses come in a variety of shapes and colors, so it is easy to find a pair that speaks to your personal sense of style. The larger frames are still in this year but there is no specific color that appears to be the “it” color this season. My favorite pair for this season are Tom Ford’s Veronique frames. Tom Ford, of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent fame, opened his flagship boutique on Madison Avenue last year. The Veronique frames are oversized and available in three colors with corresponding lens colors. So while trudging around the city this winter in snow boots and down parkas, don’t forget to don a pair of sunglasses to add some glam to your look while protecting you eyes.
