Have a holiday party coming up?  You’re not alone – and while those parties can be fun, it can also be stressful trying to find something to wear.  While you want a dress that is flattering, you also want one that is unique.  While some of the national clothing chains have some beautiful dresses, my experience has been that if I wear one of those dresses, I often find someone else at the party wearing my dress.  As a result, for special occasions I like to buy dresses by independent designers that I find in small boutiques or at the bigger department stores.  Here are my top 10 designers for Holiday Party dresses:

1. For the girl that loves to party, you can’t go wrong with New York designer Alexia Admor.  Her Sparkling Sequin Dress with straps that cross in the back is available in many colors and has been flying off the rack in New York boutiques.

2. If you are a party girl on a budget, MM Couture has many fun and flirty dresses for the holidays that are available for $150 or less.   Chiffon, sequins, beads, and ruffles all help to make your holiday dress merry and bright, as well as affordable!

3. For a more subdued holiday party during work, New York based Ali Ro can lend an air of professionalism with a little bit of an edge.  Ali Ro’s retro inspired designs are modern and trendy – but won’t be going out of style anytime soon.

4. Another New York based label is Madison Marcus which is designed by Jessica Sturman.  Madison Marcus is a hip and chic line that reinvents typical dresses with great attention to detail.  Her new renditions of the little black dress, as well as bright solid color dresses are feminine and fun.

5. If you are looking for a dress that feels comfortable but looks amazing, Michelle Mason’s Mason line consists of fabulously draped jersey dresses.  Without all of the fancy embellishments of beads and patterns, Mason dresses are simply beautiful.

6. Designer DiHera creates masterpieces for the urbane city woman.  DiHera’s two-tone dresses are very popular for many reasons but primarily for their bonded skirts.  These are very flattering on curvy women because they help to give a wonderful hour-glass figure.

7. For merrymaking uptown, Nanette Lepore is a hit!  Nanette’s bohemian-inspired, well-tailored pieces have become a staple of many New Yorkers’ wardrobes, and her evening dresses are no exception.

8. If it is feminine frills that you are looking for, Milly of New York is a great option.  Like Nanette Lepore, Milly is great for wearing to a holiday party that is taking place at the office.  A Milly dress is one that you will be able to wear again for other business casual occasions.

9. Do you want to wear a celebrity dress to a holiday party?  Check out Black Halo with their streamlined and modern dresses that have made them a more casual choice for the red carpet.  And with Black Halo available in many trendy boutiques, you don’t have to be a celebrity to wear it.

10. Finally, for the ultimate in sophistication, take a look at Vera Wang Lavender Label, her ready to wear collection.  Wang’s Lavender Label dresses are timeless, as well as effortless with a fantastic fit.  Would you expect anything less from Vera Wang?
