The hunky celebrity gardener, Jamie Durie, is said to be furious over rumors that he was dumped by Oprah Winfrey. An article in this week’s New Idea magazine claimed Durie had a falling out with Oprah, and she no longer wanted him on her show alleging his contract with Harpo Studios had not been renewed.
Durie denied ever signing a contract with Harpo and said he worked on “a project-by-project” basis. Last year, Oprah publicly rejected similar reports that she had severed her relationship with Durie.
The Australian TV star is currently in the US filming an American version of his show, The Outdoor Room and was not available for comment. But according to the Daily Telegraph, Durie’s manager, Sean Anderson, confirmed “the article had caused Jamie a great deal of distress. He is considering his legal position”.
Now, here is where it gets interesting. Jamie Durie works for Australian television network Seven whose sister publication is New Idea…talk about a family feud. The Daily Telegraph reports that Seven boss David Leckie attempted to contact Durie in an effort to smooth over this family squabble between his star and New Idea’s parent company, Pacific Magazines, which Leckie also oversees. The Telegraph also contacted a spokesperson from New Idea who said the magazine was “unaware of legal action”.
And if you are unfamiliar with Jamie Durie, here is a quick slideshow introduction…
