On Friday, both Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey revealed the December 2009 cover of O, Oprah Magazine on their respective shows.  "Joy" is the theme, and the color palette is clean and classic.  Perfect for the holidays.

Also, Ellen may be the first person to author the popular "What I Know for Sure" piece on the last page of the magazine.  Typically, Oprah writes the piece as a final thought and inspiration.

Landing on the cover of O Magazine has been a long journey and tireless campaign for Ellen.  It all began as a joke in January 2009 when Ellen told her viewers that her New Year's resolution was to get on the cover of Oprah's magazine.  The lesson...never under estimate the power of intention and great comedic timing.  Not only did Ellen get the cover, but she got it before her self-imposed deadline of 2010.

But in case one isn't enough, O Magazine is releasing the issue with two different covers. Interesting and fun.  Ellen told her viewers on Friday that one cover was for subscribers and the other will hit newsstands on November 12.  Ellen said that they are "trying to make this the best selling issue of all time."  Wth the power and populaity of both the Oprah brand and Ellen brand, that may just happen.

Oprah and Ellen made a special appearance at a tiny newsstand near the Water Tower at Chicago's Water Tower Park on Friday morning.  The two talkshow hosts were handing out signed copies of the much anticipated issue.  According to the Chicago Tribune, there wasn't much promotion for the appearance apart from a few tweets on Ellen's Twitter page, but the event still drew a large crowd.  Ellen even belted out a verse of "I'm Every Woman" and started a "When I say 'O,' you say 'Prah' " chant.

Ellen will also visit the Oprah Show on Monday, November 9 to not only talk about the new cover but her new gig on American Idol.  Ellen is the newest Idol judge filling the vacant chair, which was left by Paula Abdul.  Plus, Ellen's wife, Portia de Rossi, with join the conversaton for their first interview together.  They will chat about their wedding and life at home.
