Another winner for Cinevegas.

Cinevegas opened Wednesday  night at the same theater that Peepshow is performed in. Indeed some of the girls from the show walked the red carpet.

Cast members of Peepshow. Including new member Holly Madison

The movie is a bit quirky, it's an acquired taste. Steve Buscemi stars as an addicted gambler who has to get out of Vegas. So he drives until he runs out of gas and ends up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has a job, at an insurance agency. He likes the girl in the next cubicle. His life is mundane, but it's about to heat right up.

John is summoned to his bosses office. John thinks a raise is coming. However, a new job is coming and it's going to take him back to Vegas.

There's been a traffic accident involving one of the insurance agencies's clients and of course, the company dosen't want to pay. John gets bumped up to the "Fraud" department. To Vegas he goes with fellow fraud investigator, (and major psycho), Romany Malco.

Malco turns in a performance just short of brilliant. He plays plays his character, "Virgil" for all he's worth. One minute giving John the evil eye and making him sleep in the car to save their "per diem" money, then the next he is doing a little vogue model, dance type thing. He eats junk food only and smokes like a chimney.

On their quest to try to stop a "scammer" from getting paid we meet a stripper in a wheel chair, a man who bursts into flames every thirty seconds or so and of course the armed nudest colony. (from synopsis)

What John thinks is a race to find a way not to pay their client, turns out to be something completely different. and John's formerly mundane life turns out to be much more attractive than he once thought.

Also starring Sarah Silverman, Peter Dinklage, Tim Blake Nelson, John Cho, Jesse Garcia and Emmanuelle Chriqui. The film was directed by Hue Rhodes.

This choice was perfect to open Cinevegas 2009. It goes until Monday. Enjoy.
