Michael Moore, the extremely liberal documentary filmmaker announced last year at Cannes that he would be doing a new documentary about "the collapse of the world economy". This work is as of yet untitled.
The Hollywood Reporter's The pic will examine the "root causes of the economic meltdown," as well as the "corporate and political shenanigans" that resulted in the financial crisis.
In a statement Moore is quoted as saying "The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn't have enough wealth", "So they systematically set out to fleece the American people."
Never one to pull a punch Moore has scared us starting with his first widely released documentary "Roger and Me", as he pursued GM CEO Roger Smith to find out why he "hurt Flint Michigan". Smith had been behind massive downsizing in the company.
Unless you lived in Flint and/or worked for GM at the time, I guess the only person who was really scared was Roger Smith.
Our next big scare from Moore came from his 2002 documentary "Bowling for Columbine". This doc was , of course, his reaction to the horrible murders at the high school in Columbine , Colorado. Moore did something I didn't think possible, he scared Charleton Heston, in his own home. He interviewed him and went right for the juggler regarding Columbine and the ability for the two perpetrators to get guns. Moses threw him out of his house.
Fahrenheit 9/11 followed in 2004. It disclosed that the "Bush administration" used the attacks on the "World Trade Center" to push it's agenda to start unjust wars in Iraq and Afghanistan....actually this scare is probably partly true. And finally, in 2007, "Sicko" was released. This was about the health care "crisis" in the US. It told of how better health care was in other countries, like Canada.
My daughter started a five year plan to movie to Canada, now two years later she lives in Hawaii. Good move Kiddo.
I'm sure Mr. Moore believes in the causes he has chosen to make documentaries about. I'm not saying he is anything but passionate. What I would like to see is a documentary on the fear Moore has caused as a result of some of his work.
FYI: I am a liberal (on most subjects). Just reporting what I see.
