Today's memorial of pop icon Michael Jackson is expected to go down as one of the most watched events in the history of U.S. daytime television.  Although only 16,000 people will attend the memorial live at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, an expected 1 billion fans will mourn through the magic of live television.

According to Billboard, the expected is audience in America will compare to the inauguration of President Obama.  On a worldwide scale, the numbers are expected to surpass the wedding of Princess Diana to Prince Charles by approximately 250 million viewers.

Many of the major networks will cover the event live including ABC,NBC, CBS, MSNBC, E! and Fox News Channel.  Networks have rescheduled their daytime lineups to account for the live broadcast.

Networks from across the world have sent crews to the City of Angels to cover this massive event.

The memorial service will begin today at 10am PDT/1pm EDT.
