I know what your New York in-laws are going to say: “Only in San Francisco.” Well, they are almost right. While nude yoga is a facet of San Francisco culture, there are other nude yoga classes in the Los Angeles, Denver and undoubtedly more surprising areas. That said, there is a certain “something” to the approach here in our beloved Bay Area. Please take note: this is definitely NOT something I’ve experienced or intend to experience! I’m comfortable with my body, but maybe significantly more comfortable with my body with clothes on  . . . at least in public.

That said, according to OneTaste yoga studio in S.F. (http://www.onetaste.us/?page=What_is, ), there is something authentic, genuine and truly life-altering about performing nude yoga—especially with a partner.

A video on the company’s website describes a possible interaction between two partners—one lying down, the other with his/her hand cupped gently under the buttock of the other (and this is just the starting point!). Mind-body unity is the main point (should we believe this?), and true intimacy and real yoga (the union of mind and body) begins to emerge as a result.

Strictly for adults over the age of 18, the company’s unique-service proposition stated on the website is:

“Through mindful sexuality, a sense of self, and a deep feeling of connection with others our lives are grounded in meaning, fullness and happiness.” The text continues, “OneTaste is a place. OneTaste Urban Centers offer a city oasis where we can practice the things that seem so simple, but often aren't. And we can explore with others who are both as shy and as excited to begin this journey as we are.

“You can experience OneTaste at any level you desire: through the blogs, podcasts, and videos; by taking courses and attending events at our Centers in San Francisco and New York City; or by living in one of our urban residencies.”

Hm. Are you sold yet? I feel a bit nervous just thinking about it! But to each her own. Perhaps enlightenment shows up in the unlikeliest of places.

If you are thinking of stepping out of your comfort zone or trying something new, visit the company’s website at http://www.onetaste.us. There you will find all of the information you need to take the next step.

I won’t be seeing you there, but I wish you a wonderful experience.

Enjoy!

Namaste (“The light within me bows to and honors the light within you.”),
