Ashley Dupre front row of the Yigal Azrouël show
While it’s no shock that the runways beneath the Bryant Park tents have once again taken over the city, it may surprise some fashionistas as to who is sitting in those coveted front row seats. Of course, you’d expect to see such NYFW regulars as Anna Wintour, Rachel Zoe or even Paris Hilton— but what about Ashley Dupre? Yes, the same Ashley Dupre who was discovered to be former New York Governor, Elliot Spitzer’s call-girl flame, a Girls Gone Wild favorite and, don’t forget, aspiring singer.

On the first full day of Fashion Week (last Friday, February 13th), Ms. Dupre joined other bold-faced names in the front row of Yigal Azrouël’s show (“I’m here to see Yigal, I’m really excited”). How’d she get the invite? Dupre informed WWD that People’s Revolution PR maven, and The City sometimes-star, Kelly Cutrone had invited her. In any case, Dupre looked the fashion part and didn’t cause a stir. So, all’s well that ends well, right?

Well, Yigal Azrouël didn’t think so and fired the front-of-house PR company. When the New York Daily News asked Cutrone she explained, “I didn’t invite her, but I wasn’t going to kick her out or turn her away. We know one another, we’re friends.” Handling the situation with absolute grace, Cutrone added, “I wish [Yigal] luck. I improved his brand and helped to make him a name…I’ve been fired before, and I’ll be fired again. It’s the nature of our industry, and it doesn’t upset me.”

But what about Dupre? As Cutrone says, “I feel sorry for her - I can’t imagine how it feels for her to have all this blown up again just because she chose to go to a fashion show;” adding, “You know…If Ashley had shown up at Marc Jacobs’ show, he would have been a hero. It would have been cutting edge - but Yigal and she weren’t the best fit. Would I have advised she go to this particular show? Probably not.”

Though, with all of the extra publicity that his show garnered, should Yigal have gotten so upset? I mean, isn't all press, good press?
