This week the Council of Fashion Designers of America played host to an event at the beautiful SoHo home of Elie and Rory Tahari, which was converted into a lovely Manhattan rooftop lounge complete with a chic white décor, DJ station and bottle service, attended by fashion-makers and lovers, alike.

Though held on the same evening as the Obama vs. McCain debate, the party celebrated an inauguration of a different kind, fêting the CFDA’s twenty-eight new members, who were adorned with floral boutonnieres instead of nametags, so that guests knew who they were.
As one of the evening’s hosts, Elie Tahari (below with Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester), told the New York Observer: “I think it's been ten months since we've begun planning this...It's always great to welcome new members into the community. I tell them how lucky they are because they are young and have a lot of opportunities available to them in the industry.”
