Wedged thoughtlessly between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving doesn't get its full share of respect.  It's a distinctly American holiday, and one that hasn't been commercialized beyond belief.  It's mellow and reflective, so it takes a backseat to the other holidays, which are more glitter-centric.

So in our ongoing effort to revitalize the Thanksgiving spirit, here's our list of the top 5 movies to get you in the Thanksgiving mood.  Download them to your laptop and watch them on the plane, watch them with your friends at your orphan-Thanksgiving dinner, or watch them with your family and quietly give thanks that your family isn't that bad.

#5  Dutch

Starring Ed O'Neill and Ethan Randall, Dutch is the story of an oafish man-child, and the spoiled boarding school brat he's sent to fetch for Thanksgiving.  Along their road trip, they end up buying fireworks, staying in a homeless shelter, and almost killing themselves at every turn.  You can bet that there's also lessons learned and cold, shriveled hearts softened.  Aww.

#4  Pieces of April

Despite the fact that it stars Katie Holmes, this is the story of a "black sheep" of the family trying to bring everyone together for Christmas.  Anyone who's tried to cook a big meal in a tiny apartment kitchen in the East Village can commiserate.

Come back tomorrow for the second installment in the series.  What movies will be numbers 3 and 2?  I'll give you a hint...they're all about family values.
