Wedged smack-dab in between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving has become the stepchild of the American holiday season.

Stores are selling discount costumes and candy while putting up their tinsel-covered trees, and in the midst of it all, Thanksgiving is almost an afterthought.  After all, no one dresses up as a sexy Ghostbuster for Thanksgiving, and you don't have to buy people presents.  Retailers don't care much about Thanksgiving, but this Examiner is a champion for any holiday where everyone gets an entire day to eat and watch TV.

In honor of Thanksgiving, join me over the next week as I dig up viral videos, Thanksgiving oddities, and have various other kinds of turkey-day fun.

To kick things off, check out this video, wherein we learn what pilgrim life was like, as imagined by the creators of a 50's style filmstrip.  (Remember those?)  Apparently, life was full of hard chores such as milking dogs and pounding crap.  Really makes you think, doesn't it?
