One of the reason I read blogs is to see how other homeschoolers manage their time, keep their children focused and on task and generally what they think about homeschooling.

Part 3 of this Carnival of Homeschooling features posts on these types of topics and ends with some homeschooling humor

I appreciated Sarah Robbins' from "Parenting Gifted Kids" post on the top four advantages to homeschooling..   I particularly liked the idea of having the "time to simmer".

It was a joy to read Tanya's post on her decision to start homeschooling her children again.  . Good luck Tanya.   Homeschooling is a great way of life.

Did you know that Michael Jackson's children are homeschooled?  The Atlanta Homeschooling Examiner writes about celebrity homeschoolers and her worry about what will happen to her children should something happen to her.

Having something happen to me is a big worry as a homeschooler.  Whil my family members continue to homeshool my kids as we have requested, or will they take the chance to do something more "normal" that won't be best for my kids.  I know I have made arrangments for my children by placing them with a family member with our educational philosohpy.  I hope Michael Jackson has done the same.

Andrea  has a wonderful rant  in response to Author Doris Anne Beaulieu's uninformed video on the ramifications of homeschooling.

One wonders if Beaulieu has ever spent time with real, live homeschoolers.  I doubt it based on what she has to say. She takes a stereotype and then attempts to provide a "solution" to the "problem" of homeschoolers.

I've long felt that twins are the easy option when you homeschool as they learn pretty much everything on the same level.  I often wonder how parents of multiple age and stage children manage their homeschooling.  Belinda Bullard removed the mystery by sharing her family's best practices and how-to's for homeschooling multiple-aged children.

Have you ever wondered how a really large family manages its discipline? Every time I see a family with more than 3 children I wonder how the parents do it.   I sometimes feel overwhelmed with just a set of twins.  Raising Olives shares how their family of nine children manages to keep their children well behaved

Henry Cate from "Why Homeschool" shares his how he works his daughters through summer.

For me homeschooling is largely about shaping and improving the character of our children. Academics is important as it provides them with knowledge and tools to live their lives. Things like sports and music help round out their education. A strong work ethic can help them to succeed with difficult and challenging tasks.

"My Domestic Church" writes about death being a part of life.  She writes about her experiences and lessons learned in helping kids through the death of a loved one.

The religiously minded reader will enjoy reading For His Glory's  musings on the connection between Math and her God

Cristina's * cartoon had me rolling on the floor with laughter.  You cannot miss her great cartoons.  This cartoon was very topical for me because this morning I was trying to work out where I could find a spot in my home to stash recyclables for art projects. My kids saw me taking new linen out of their packing and were immediately begging for said packaging.   They immediately saw the uses for plastic bags with zippered tops.   The kids and I trawl the neighborhood on recycling day looking for large cartons and interesting things.  I think Cristina drew this cartoon with me in mind.

Adding more light relief, Rose pitches "Brian and Rose Plus 7…" *as a reality show to replace "Jon and Kate plus 8".

People often ask me if I have seen a television show called “Jon and Kate Plus 8.” I haven’t. Apparently, it is a reality show about a family with eight children. As a woman with grown kids plus seven kids still at home, I can’t imagine taking time out from my mountain of laundry to watch another family live life.

Rumor is, the show isn’t returning for another season. This will leave millions of Americans wondering what goes on in big families. Brian and I have been thinking about pitching a show idea to the producers of “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ based on our lives here.

Please share your writings about discipline, benefits of homeschooling or anything else that you feel that fellow homeschoolers will benefit from reading by submitting an entry to next week's Carnival of Homeschooling.  Don't forget those stories that have us chuckling quietly about ourselves.
