Does caregiving put a strain on your marriage? If so, you are not alone. Four out of five caring for aging parents say their intimate relationships suffered as a result of the demands of family caregiving.

Nine out of ten participants in a recent survey by Caring.com say that caregiving caused then to spend less time with their partners, and half say they drifted apart. Romance is decreased in half and intimacy decreased in a third.
 
The risk to marriage is highest for those who hold a job in addition to caregiving, offer financial support to their parents and have a loved one living in the home.
 
Keep those Valentine's Day ideas handy. You can keep your marriage alive, even while caring for aging parents. In fact, some say that caregiving strengthened their marriages..
