The state of Illinois has seen so much turmoil in the past few years. Several governors have ended up or could end up in prison. Some just have a cloud of suspicion hanging over their heads. Chicago-style politics has a terrible reputation and has trailed all the way to the White House. A sitting Senator has little respect even from his own party.
Perhaps it is truly time for change. A candidate has emerged in the race for governor in the primarily democratic state that may change its course of blue action. Adam Andrzejewski is running as a Republican, but even he is a break from Republican politics. He is new, fresh and not knee-deep in Blagojevich or Chicago politics.
His platform sounds truly Republican - fiscal and social conservative. His policy will focus on corruption, budget, health care, education, property taxes, job growth, veteran's and individual rights. He opposes big spending and pork-filled bills and sales tax increases.
There are five other Republicans running for governor in Illinois and only one Democrat has officially announced his candidacy. It is clear that the state is indeed ready for change. Current Governor Pat Quinn-D, is not a candidate at this time.
Electing a truly conservative governor will send a clear message to the city of Chicago that its reign of brutish politics is over. Perhaps a conservative governor can put the focus back on the people, jobs, reducing taxes, and government transparency. Adam Adrzejewski presents that case so far.
