Well, it seems like July is "I'm Sorry" month: Canibus extending an olive branch to LL, The Game saying being in G-Unit was like being in rap's Beatles, myself apologizing to Lil Wayne and getting flamed by trolls, and Soulja Boy (or his publicist - like it raelly matters) apologizing for an earlier rant against white people.
Cam'ron and Mase have added another one to the recent wave of "hugs". The two have reconciled and done a song called, "Get It". Get what, I don't know. Money, maybe? Yeah, that's it, money! Right? Let's see a lyrical snippet from sohh.com:
You ain't see this one coming," Mase said on the song's intro. "Man we so hungry...Harlem, Killa. Do it now. We're back for sure, the black Lyor/Chicks wanna sip from any glass I pour/Louis dress shirt, Gucci expert/My net worth make chicks wanna network...Bounce like a baby from a roof top/Or find me in the lair/Flying in the air, fine designer wear/diamonds in my ear, drama I don't wanna hear...they like if I come back I get 50 percent, nah, if I come back I need Diddy percent."
"Harlem, we here," Cam is heard saying. "Girl, nothing move me but the moon/Hong Kong, long gone/cuter than Bermuda/Get your gear, let's scuba...Like Slick, I'm the ruler/I maneuver to the jeweler...I smoke 'em like Budda, them fools, they'll fool ya/Got my Dickies on, blowing on sticky bongs/In Japan, they greet me like Konichiwa, I blow weed smoke, different guns we tote..."
This is what passes for lyrics now? Okay.......
I really gotta hear this, because perhaps it sounds better heard than read.
Beefs are stupid, which is why when people think I report on Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne or anyone else atfer they make foolish mistakes and just do stupid things for the hell of it, they think I have something against that person. it's really not that person, just his or her antics.
When Cam and Mase had that beef starting in 1999, I just shook my head in disgust. It sounded like two children crying back and forth after a fist fight going, "HE STARTED IT!" "NO, I DIDN'T!"
Unity is key for hip-hop to overcome hurdles cleared by other genres. but I'm probably preaching to the choir.
Nuff said.
