In its own efforts to help ‘stimulate’ the economy, Pfizer announced it will give away Viagra and many other of its drugs to people who have lost their jobs and have no health insurance.
"Everybody knows now a neighbor, a relative who has lost their job and is losing their insurance. People are definitely hurting out there, our aim is to help people bridge this point." Dr. Jorge Puente, Pfizer's head of pharmaceuticals, told The Associated Press.
70 of the company’s drugs, such as Viagra, Lipitor, Celebrex, and Lyrica, are included in the plan, and participants can remain in plan for up to one year.
To qualify, applicants must have lost their jobs since January 1, 2009, and already have had prescriptions for the drugs for at least three months, and can attest to financial hardship.
