CornerStone Brewing Co. has opened a second location in Madison, Ohio. Official opening to the public is today, June 23. Last night was the pre-opening VIP celebration. Jay Cox, brewer for both locations, was as excited as a kid in a candy store to see the new three barrel brewing system installed in the basement. I think he wanted to start brewing immediately! The beers on tap at the moment were all brewed at CornerStone's Berea location. Erik Rothschiller, general manager and brewmaster for Berea was on hand for the celebration along with owner Roy Blalock, Jarrod McCarthy, director of operations/chef and Lindsey McCarthy, GM for Madison. Also spotted in the crowd were Tony Debevc and Brian Burns from nearby Cellar Rats Brewery (at Chalet Debonne Vineyards).
See the pictures for some views inside and out. It’s much bigger than it looks. It’s actually two buildings with an outdoor patio in between. Then there is a nice deck out back for more outdoor dining and drinking. The menu looked much the same as Berea's to me...at least my favorites were there, but I'm not sure if it's exactly the same.
There were eight beers on tap. Most will be familiar to the Berea CornerStone patrons. They have their flagship Grindstone Gold (American lager), Sandstone Lager (Oktoberfest style), and Seven (IPA) along with Erie Blu, Dockside Wit, Love Potion #14, Running Ale, and O’Nooley’s Dark. Another place to get good beer in wine country! Cool!
