Do you ever wonder about the ladies behind the scenes in the White House? Autumn Stephens reveals many secrets in her new book, Feisty First Ladies. The publisher timed the book so that among the high-kicking first ladies on the cover is Michelle Obama, flanked by Hilary, Nancy, Laura and Jackie. But this book covers more than the most recent first wives, it goes back in time to explore the lives of Martha and Mary Todd.  The author also includes feisty ladies who were visitors to the first families, including Cher, who was a regular while Jimmy Carter was in office. The presidential daughters are not excluded; their tabloid-worthy adventures are fair game.

Pick up a copy and find out which first lady was a shopaholic, which was a sleep-‘til-noon slacker, and whose approval ratings consistently topped her husband’s.

Autumn Stephens is the author of the best-selling and groundbreaking Wild Women series. She runs a very popular writing workshop series in the Bay area and has been featured in Glamour, the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Times. She lives in Berkley, Ca.

The official book release date is Inauguration Day, 2009.
