Dr Henry G. Bieler, MD often used his famous Bieler’s Broth to help his patients detoxify. Dr. Bieler prescribed this simple soup to help restore alkalinity and mineral balance, thereby supporting the organs, especially the liver. As well, the endocrine glands, such as the adrenal and thyroid glands, are greatly benefited by a cleanse using Bieler’s Broth. Make some today as part of your internal spring cleaning!

Bieler’s Broth
Adapted from Food Is Your Best Medicine by Henry G. Bieler, MD. All ingredients should be organic.

2lbs zucchini
1lb string beans
4 stalks celery
1-2 bunches parsley
4 cups clean filtered water
Extra virgin olive oil or unsalted organic butter (optional)

Cut up the zucchini, string beans and celery. You may either steam or boil the vegetables until soft in a stainless steel or porcelain pot using the filtered water. Blend the vegetables, cooking water and parsley together to the consistency of pea soup. You may add a small amount of extra virgin olive oil or unsalted organic butter if desired. Variations include adding garlic, onions, ginger or other fresh herbs.
