Transition For Success

Transition Support
College and Vocational Training, Assessment, and Internships including Gap Year Opportunties, for Students with Special Needs or Disabilities

What is Transition for Success?

An innovative new program for high school students and graduates who may need extra support figuring out what comes next. TFS can:

  • Help with a college search or selecting a field of study
  • Find employment, internships, or community service (SSL) hours
  • Structure meaningful activities for a gap year
College Search

We offer inventories and assessment tools to help identify your interests and strengths. We are also experienced special needs advocates who can assist in qualifying you for accommodations at the college level and work with your school's Students with Disabilities office to follow through.

Job and Internship Placement and Support

We offer a job and internship placement service, both for high school graduates and current students who are looking to get a head start with employment or need to find a meaningful way to fulfill their required Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. We provide continual support both to you and your employer. We run weekly group counseling sessions to help you problem-solve situations that might arise at work, and learn strategies to help you succeed.

Gap Year Activities

We can help structure a meaningful "gap year," individually designed to help you on the path to employment in your chosen field through internships, or to give you experiences to help make you an attractive prospect for colleges or even provide college credit. Students participating in the gap year program also receive weekly counseling and support.

Additional Support

We have psychologists, neuropsychologists, and a behavioral developmental pediatrician on staff to provide assessments, consultation on behavioral or medical interventions, and referrals to appropriate longer term care.
Apply for the Gap Year/Supported Internship Program today! Application deadline September 1, 2009
