I am not a fan of wine but I find myself becoming increasing more interested with food and all those cooking shows on television. I know I'm in the minority about the wine thing, not on the food shows, so that is why I am providing you with info about the Washington D.C. International Wine & Food Festival.

Of particular interest to me is the "Grand Tasting." It features more than 200 international and domestic wineries pouring over 800 wines for sampling. I know eventually I will have to come around on the whole wine thing and going to a big tasting event like this would probably help.

There will also be a number of chefs at the event cooking dishes while audience members try to get some tips. These cooking demonstrations are included in the admission prices but seats are expected to fill up fast.

According to show organizers, those showing off their culinary skills will be

  • Andreas Viestad, host of Public Television’s Perfect Day
  • Patrice Olivon, L’Academie de Cuisine; host of Public Television’s newest cooking show, Dinner is Served
  • Christina Pirello, host of Public Television program Christina Cooks
  • Barton Seaver, formerly of Hook and Cafe Saint-Ex, for Alaskan Seafood Marketing Institute
  • Roseanne Tully, Intermezzo Magazine

Tickets for the event are $85 if you buy them today and $95 if you buy them on site. A quick check of the festival's web site shows that the only tickets left are for Sunday.
