I recently got an e-mail from Senator Barbara Mikulski's office alerting me to the fact that she has not awarded her 400 swearing-in tickets yet. In the words of Jim Carrey from Dumb & Dumber "So you're telling me there's a chance?" Whether it is Lauren Holly or Barbara Mikulski, apparently I still have a chance. Mikulski's e-mail is below.

Dear Mr. Shlesinger,
Thank you for contacting me about attending the inauguration of President Obama. It's great to hear from you.
What an exciting time for our nation! America will make history when Barack Obama is inaugurated the 44th President of the United States on January 20th, 2009 - and our new President will change history.
The ceremony will be held outdoors on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol and Members of Congress will receive a limited number of free tickets for the Capitol Grounds and a portion of the National Mall. Each congressional office will be allocated only a few hundred tickets. So far, I have received over 50,000 requests for tickets.
With such a large number of requests, I have decided to distribute tickets by lottery. I will be giving two tickets to each selected household. In early January I will contact you with more information about ticket availability. Your name is included on the list for the random drawing. I wish you the best of luck!
But the good news is that President-elect Obama and his team will make a lot more space on the Mall to view the inauguration. Tickets will not be needed. Though it will be further from the Capitol steps, there will be screens and sound systems to view the inauguration. This will enable many more people to share in this historic experience.
In addition, you can still participate in the other festivities without Congressional Inauguration tickets. Other sections of the Inaugural Parade route will not require tickets. The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) is organizing other activities such as balls, galas, receptions, parties, and the official Inaugural Day parade. Any ticket requests for these events should be directed to the PIC. Its website is http://change.gov/learn/inauguration. Information these events will be updated by the PIC as it becomes available.
Thank you once again for contacting me. I will be in touch again in January. I hope you have a blessed holiday season - and a New Year filled with joy and hope!
Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator
