The Texas State Society is not stopping its traditional inaugural party now that George Bush is leaving town. The Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball will be held on Jan. 19 at the mammoth new Gaylord National in Prince George's County, Md.

At least 10,000 people have already reserved their tickets for the ball so if you want to get in on some Lone Star State fun, now is the time. There is a catch though. It appears as if the only way to get tickets for the ball is to become a member of the Texas State Society. It is $25 for an individual membership and $40 for a family. To join go to www.texasstatesociety.org.

One thing I find interesting about the Texas party is there is also a Texas Fair. Exhibitors from Texas, and all over for that matter, will be staffing booths and hawking their wares. I wonder if the Philadelpia Eagles will be there to sell the Dallas Cowboys a better defense? The fair will also be at Gaylord National, running Jan. 18-19. It is open to the public on Jan. 18 from 5-10 p.m. and Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. It will be open exclusively to Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball ticket holders from 7 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 19.

Those wanting more info about exhibiting can call Alexandra Libby at 202-237-0900 ext. 43, or e-mail her at alexandra@websterconsulting.com.
