Congratulations Divino Lounge, your chicken empanadas have been chosen by this author as the best food at Taste of Bethesda. The culinary event was held this past weekend and featured more than 50 restaurants offering up pint-size portions of their signature dishes.

My philosophy for tackling this huge affair was only go to restaurants I have yet to visit. I figured I could eat Indian food from Haandi anytime so why waste precious tickets on my favorite dishes?

Truth be told, I would not have even tried Divino Lounge, an Argentinian restaurant, except for the fact that an Argentinian friend of mine, Diego, once inquired into the locale's quality. Due to Diego's inquisitiveness, I left Taste of Bethesda quite pleased.

The chicken empanada was the size of a generic dumpling, but it was full of chicken, vegetables and spices. The tiny portion did not take away from the experience. Divino Lounge earned itself a future full-blown visit from this writer.

Although I generally abstain from beef, I could not pass up the filet mignon sandwiches from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Morton's. The winner there was Ruth's Chris because their sandwich had the nice addition of horseradish sauce. Food tickets were four for five dollars. So at three tickets, Ruth's Chris did not come cheap.

A weakness of mine is bread pudding so I was glad to see that La Miche was offering up the sugary treat. Unfortunately, it was not ready when I sauntered up to the tent. Luckily though, nearby was Flanagan's Harp and Fiddle which gave an extra large portion of the dessert. So much in fact, that my guest and I could not finish.

I left Taste of Bethesda will a full stomach and the desire to return next year. There were plenty of restaurants at the event that I did not visit that can expect my return in the future. Although by the end of the day I spent more on food tickets then I would have liked, the morning was quite a success. Now off to Divino Lounge.
