When I first saw an advertisement for Grape Stomp 2008 I knew I had to go. Granted, I had no idea what was involved or any of the specifics but if an event is called "Grape Stomp" what's not to love?

Lo and behold, Grape Stomp is being held at the Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, in Dickerson, Md. This is the same city that houses Markoff's Haunted Forest. I've lived in Montgomery County my whole life and had never visited Dickerson before stopping by the Forest. Truth be told, I had never even heard of it. But with all the goodwill I have built up towards this hamlet in northwest Mo. Co., I couldn't say no.

The Second Annual Grape Stomp will be held on Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. There will be music, food and vineyard and winery tours. Those who go on the tours will be able to see SMV's new tasting room and garden patio and enjoy a taste of their award-winning wines.

Admission is $10 for those of drinking age and older, and it includes a wine glass and five tastings. Everyone under 21 is free.

Of course, there is still the little issue of stomping some grapes. There will be contests held throughout the day where the young, and young at heart, can pretend to be Keanu Reeves in "A Walk in the Clouds."

A word to the wise, please be careful while stomping grapes and do not try to cheat. This lady did and now she's become part of You Tube lore, for all the wrong reasons.
