Parents and caregivers can alleviate children's fears about the swine flu by helping them learn more about what to expect during a flu pandemic. The following resources are designed especially for children.
Swine Flu Comic Book
Seattle and King County Public Health developed a 12-page comic book, "No Ordinary Flu," to help teach kids and families about pandemic flu. The comic tells the story of a family's experience during the 1918 influenza pandemic and explains the threat of a flu pandemic today, what to expect, and how to prepare.
Swine Flu Stop Germs Poster
As part of the Stop Germs, Stay Healthy! public health campaign, King County developed a free poster to teach kids about swine flu and stay healthy practices.
Swine Flu Online Animated Video
BrainPOP.com released a free swine flu video to teach children about swine flu. (Homeschool parents who plan to subscribe to BrainPOP, providers of animated, standards and curriculum-based online lessons, are eligible to earn discount points through Homeschool Buyers Co-op.)
Fight the Swine Flu Toys
On a less serious note, Archie McPhee in Seattle is selling swine flu toys and gag gifts.
