Entering the military is one way teens can raise money for college. In fact, not only do they get college money, but they get job training, medical, dental and vision insurance as well as spending their time in deployment or training free from the burden of living expenses.
I can see how this is attractive. But the basic purpose of the military- to kill our country's political enemies, disturbs me.
Especially when I see that the military leaders are now supporting the funding of increased early childhood education.
As a homeschooler, institutionalized education looks like a machine designed to turn out lifeless cogs who are all too willing to sell their soul for the company or country, with a mindless sort of stupidity that makes them live blindly, never questioning doctors, corporations or religious leaders. Just the sort of cog the military needs to do their dirty work.
So when I see that the military is supporting early childhood education, it's just further proof that it's a bad thing.
Starting children in school earlier will not make them smarter. It will not make them happier adults. It will not teach them to follow their passions, be their best, or love their neighbor. That's OK because none of those skills are necessary for military cogs.
Interestingly, another reason the military needs more youth is because the ones they're getting are unfit (physically)
Could the silver lining on this cloud be a potential end to the processed food industry's control of school lunch "nutrition programs." I, for one, would love to see the day when WIC checks buy real wholesome organic foods instead of peanut butter, canned tuna, artificial breastmilk and boxed cereal. Imagine that- real nutrition so the future soldiers will have strong bodies. That could work.
