A lot of people don't realize that there are two different tour companies started by unschoolers that take teens on trips to faraway places for exploring and education.
Worldschooler, Eli Gerzon is currently in Japan on a 22 day tour with homeschoolers from all over the country. He's planning another trip in the summer of 2010, that will last a month. Teens who take a worldschool travel tour "Explore ancient ruins, beautiful temples, and fascinating museums, climb mountains, volcanoes, and pyramids, swim on tropical beaches and soak in traditional baths, wander colorful markets and eat delicious, authentic food at the places where locals go."
Blake Boles, author of College Without High School, [friesens, 2009] owns and operates Unschool Adventures, a company that he started with Abbi Miller, a Broadway performer and fellow travel enthusiast. They're spending the month of November in a beach house in Seaside, Oregon with a house full of homeschooled teens who are participating in NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. They'll be visiting Australia for 6 weeks in the Spring of 2010.
